How to ….?

What do you do when you have an abundance of tomatoes that are ripening far too quickly in the  summer heat?

You roast them, of course! Rather than just slicing up fresh tomatoes and adding them to your favourite salad or pasta dishes, why not add roasted tomatoes?  This is such a simple, yet delicious way to enjoy those plump cherry tomatoes, (or any others for that matter).

They do not take long at all to cook, and if you will be using the oven to cook any other dishes, then pop these in at the same time, to save on energy, and avoid over-heating the steamy kitchen.

How to ….?

Did you also grow up eating peanut butter sandwiches? Of course, after going gluten-free, I could no longer enjoy my childhood favourite.  That was until I started to bake my own bread, and could once again enjoy not only peanut butter on gluten-free bread, but also other toppings, just like ‘normal’ people.

I also started to make my own nut and seed butters. That way, I get to control which ingredients are added, don’t add preservatives, and can play around with flavour combinations too.

How to ….?

As I already mentioned, this month I will be sharing ‘How to…?’ posts

This is the first, and the rest will be sent out every Friday this month, so remember to check back.

With so many convenience foods around, it is so easy to just pop into a supermarket and pick up tinned (canned), bottled or pre-packaged food. However, since these products are mass produced, often we are not sure whether the ingredients and added preservatives are safely gluten-free, or even good for our health – scary when you don’t know exactly what goes into your meals.

Therefore, over the years, I’ve had to learn to be inventive, creative, and make most of my own sauces, dressings, and other delicious conveniences.
