Hi!
Welcome, and thanks for visiting my blog.
When I first started my blog, in September 2014, the intention was only to post gluten free, egg free, and also other allergy-free recipes.
However, I’ve since realised that my blog is about more than just recipes. Since I’m not one-dimensional, there are other aspects to my life, such as photography, travelling, language and culture, and of course, food! These will also feature on my blog.
Oh yes! I’m also trying my hand at writing. No, not only here on my blog, but also recipe books, (first Ebook completed in 2014), and I’m hoping to have another one out sometime this year, if time allows.
My ongoing project, is writing a book about my roadtrip, through 162 different cities, over 60 000kms; from the lowest point below sea level to almost the highest altitude in the world! What an adventure!
Living gluten-free
I eat gluten free.
That statement sounds like a confession, for something I did wrong, doesn’t it!? Eating gluten free is not a choice. Actually, I should rephrase that.
It is a choice – I choose not to eat gluten because my body cannot tolerate it, and it MAKES ME SICK! That’s right – stomach ache, migranes, ezcema, mood swings, bloating, fatigue, digestive problems, brain fog and joint pain. Not a whole lot of fun!
Having followed a gluten free diet for *twenty years now, I try my best to eat home-made, healthy, tasty and wholesome gluten free food.
*It was twenty years ago that I was diagnosed with multiple allergies, with oats, barley, rye, wheat at the top of the list.
I occasionally include some dairy into my limited diet, such as yoghurt and butter, if I think that it will add value to a recipe. I recently had to give up egg, for health reasons. After thinking that I’d ‘mastered’ the gluten free way of cooking and baking, not using egg really threw me for a loop! I’m now on a new adventure. Cooking and baking without egg still sometimes leaves me with ‘egg on my face’! If you have any tips or advice – leave a comment.
I am not a vegetarian. I do however, enjoy vegetables (yes, Mom, you know that you were right!), and know that they are an essential part of any healthy lifestyle.
Join my trials and tribulations of living a healthy gluten free life.
My blog has expanded, to include more than just my recipes and living gluten free. Rather than have more than one blog, I have also included posts about my passions.
I’ve written my first gluten-free and egg-free Christmas recipe book – Cozy Gluten-free Recipes.
Feel free to browse around, and comment. It’s free!
Gluten Free. Lekker food ! Lekker life!
I was asked what ‘lekker’ means. It’s not a word that can easily be translated. It has more than one meaning, depending on where you are from, and also how you use it. Here, the meaning is – good, or delicious. You know, like in sooo good! Gluten free food is just sooo lekker! Now you know.
All photos are my own. Please do not copy and paste. If you really like a photo and would like to use it for your personal use, please ask first. Thanks!
Interesting and lekker man!
