Summer Smoothie Bowls – Raspberry Red

Smoothies are a quick and easy way to make a healthy and nutritious breakfast – make the most of the delicious summer fruit available, and blend up your own creations.

A basic guide to creating your own smoothies:

  • a cup of frozen fruit
  • a frozen banana
  • a handful of leafy green vegetables (optional)
  • 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of liquid (milk, yoghurt, fruit juice)
  • 1 tablespoon of your favourite  sweetener (optional)

 

Raspberry Smoothie Bowl

Serving size: makes one bowl

Ingredients:

  • 1 punnet of fresh raspberries
  • 1/4 cup of plain yoghurt
  • 2 tablespoons of flaxmeal (ground flax seeds)
  • 1 small frozen banana, peeled and sliced
  • Filtered water – if needed

 

Topping:

  • A few fresh raspberries
  • A sprinkling of desiccated coconut
  • 1 tablespoon of roasted almonds, finely chopped
  • A sprig of mint (optional)

Instructions:

  1.  Place the raspberries, frozen banana, flaxmeal and yoghurt into a blender
  2. Blend on high until thick and creamy
  3. If too thick, add a little filtered water/juice. Blend
  4. Pour into a serving bowl
  5. Top with your favourites, or those listed above
  6. Grab your spoon and enjoy!
