Pumpkin Puree – what to do with it?

Okay, so you’ve taken the time to bake a whole pumpkin or butternut, and now the question is ‘What do I do with all of this tasty orange flesh?!’

Depending on what your tastes are, there are quite a few ways in which to make the most of the freshly baked pumpkin.

I wait for the pumpkins/butternuts to cool down, then use a spoon and scoop out the flesh. It is easily done.

I then place it into a blender, and pulse it until a thick and creamy puree is formed. It only takes a few very short minutes, and you’re all done. You could also just use a potato masher, if you like the flesh more solid and not in liquid form.

I’ve used the puree in the following recipes:

  1. Pumpkin Latte
  2. Pumpkin cupcakes
  3. Pumpkin bread
  4. Pumpkin soup
  5. Pumpkin brownies and
  6. Pumpkin muffins

How do you use up pumpkin puree?  Would love to hear your ideas and tips.

  1. Yum. I make pumpkin soup quite often but I’ve also used it in place of the milk and flour mixture in Mac and Cheese. A healthier version. Particularly when I use a mixture of potato and pumpkin cooked in broth with onion (basically, let’s be real, I use the pumpkin soup in with the pasta) 😋😋 YUM!
