Smoothie – A peach of a Smoothie!

Making smoothies just the way you like them, in your own kitchen is one way to ensure that what you’re drinking (and eating) is 100% gluten-free! If you have a blender, then it’s easy to whip up your favourite flavours in no time at all. Today’s smoothie is made using Rooibos tea.  Rooibos, a South African herbal tea, is very beneficial to one’s health, and can be added not only to smoothies, but also to many other dishes to add a wonderful flavour that is naturally caffeine free.

Peachy-Pear Rooibos Smoothie

  • 250ml (1 cup) of Rooibos tea (already made and cooled)
  • 1 medium sized peach
  • 1 medium sized pear (any variety)
  • Fresh ginger
  • Lemon zest and juice



  1. Make a 200ml cup of Rooibos tea and allow to cool
  2. Wash the fruit in filtered water
  3. Cut up the peach and pear, and place into a blender
  4. Peel and slice up a knob of fresh ginger (about a tablespoon) and add to the blender
  5. Grate a little lemon zest, and add along with a tablespoon of lemon juice to the blender
  6. Next, add the Rooibos tea
  7. Add ice cubes if  you prefer an icy smoothie
  8. Pulse and then blend on high for about one minute, until thick and smooth
  9. Pour into two small glasses (or just one), add a straw and enjoy!
