Smoothies – A shot of green!

The second smoothie recipe for this month was going to be named ‘The Green Monster’, and then I thought that perhaps that would put you off?!?Β  So, rather, I chose a more subtle name.

It is called the –

Green Smoothie Shot

(naturally gluten free, egg free, sugar free, dairy free, soy free, nut free, corn free, allergy friendly)

This smoothie is for those who are serious about eating their vegetables (in any form), and also love a good smoothie.Β  Try it, and let me know what you think.

  • 1/3 cup of grape juice / or other sweet fruit (frozen or not)
  • 1 knob of fresh ginger, washed
  • 100g of leafy green vegetable (spinach or your favourite)
  • 1 peach, washed, peeled and cut up
  • 1/4 cup of filtered water (if too thick)

  1. Wash the fruit and vegetables in filtered water
  2. Cut the ginger into chunks
  3. Cut the peach into pieces
  4. Place all the ingredients into a blender
  5. Pulse for a few seconds
  6. Blend on high for about 30 seconds to 1 minute
  7. If you find the smoothie to be too thick, add 1/4 cup of filtered water or ice, or other liquid
  8. Pour into shot glasses
  9. Garnish with a bright colour, such as a strawberry or gou qi berries
  10. Grab shot glass, gulp down and feel energised!

      1. Spam?! Moi!?! How rude! LOL it happens all the time actually. I’m starting to get a complex lol. Frozen grape juice – I might just have to do that next grape season. πŸ˜„

      2. Pity that comments you would rather have go directly to the spam folder – don’t! πŸ˜› Glad that I checked and saw your comment, though. Oh yes, you’re enjoying hot drinks down under, aren’t you.

      1. I followed the recipe. Next time I will not use spinach because I started a one-month Ayurvedic therapy and have to reduce all that is acid. I’ll see what is allowed to eat to replace the Spinach. πŸ˜€

      2. Thanks so much for commenting, Lucile πŸ™‚ So, what did you think of the smoothie? I’ve heard of the Ayurvedic way of eating, but not too sure how it works? Wishing you well on your new therapy.

      3. You’re welcome!
I loved the smoothie. The taste is fantastic. The combination of flavors is really delicious.
I haven’t changed my diet but just got a list of things to avoid for being too acid. It’s a 8 weeks trial. I’m going to a 3 days course though to learn more about it.
